A New Year, New Possibilities

Well, here we are! We've survived the holidays! I actually really enjoy the holidays, but have to admit, I get a bit down in the dumps when its my year to work them. Its only fair, of course, but being human I tend to allow myself to sink into banal human emotions like envy and self pity! BUT, when the new year rolls around, always feel invigorated by the possibilites that lay ahead, and this year is no different. I was blessed in the middle of December with a new contract from HQN books, and an invitation to write a Christmas novella in an anthology with Stephanie Laurens and Nicola Cornick, whose books I truly adore!d
But more tidbits about the new series to come. All I will tell you is that it incorporates many of my loves, and that the books will be just straight romance between the hero and heroine--no over lapping mystery and such (although I loved writing that in the Brethren Guardian series). I am returning to my roots of deep, emotional romance, and I can't wait!

I've made my new years resolutions, and mostly they consist of writing goals, and they are to keep my website updated....Lord preserve us, I am SO bad at that, and also to keep up with this blog. I plan to be a bit more interactive with my readers as well. I also have resolved to stop and enjoy the release of my books, something I have been much too busy to do as of late!

I am excited about the new year, and all it might bring. I'm sooo excited about the new series I am going to undertake. And even though at this point I am only there in my mind, I am so excited to be back in the lovely North Yorkshire Moors writing my series. In fact, I am there now, writing the Christmas novella. Here's what it looks like where I am!

You will have to forgive my geography, but I could not resist this estate! I love it, and while it's in Yorkshire, its not exactly located in reality, where I've planted it in my fictional world. In fact, it's just a bit away from Harrogate, Yorkshire, another lovely place that I have yet to see, but plan to.

Isn't it lovely? Imagine being the lady, or in the case of my series, the duchess of such a house!
Well, back to my imaginery world, sipping tea by the fire with a strong, imposing black haired, green eyed duke staring intently upon me as he undresses me silently--and thoroughly--with his bedroom eyes!

All the best for a wonderful 2012!!!

I do, too! Imagine growing up there! I just have to make it a point to go to England, Harrogate, and Harewood sometime this year. Fantastic research, I would say!

Thanks for stopping by!

Betty, thanks for visiting and for the wonderful compliment about my imagination! lol! You will laugh, but right this very second, I am listening to Flo rida's song, Good Feeling, because believe it or not, it pares so well, and totally reflects the tone of the duke in my new series! Now, how weird is that, that a rap type song could inspire a cold polite duke who leaves in 1837's Yorkshire!

Happy New Year to you to Charlotte!

I am so happy to hear about returning to your emotional romances. They are the romances that I found you with, and are still some of my favorite reads (not that I didn't enjoy the other too, just that I prefer your emotional stories more)

And do stop and smell the roses (your new releases). You worked so hard at them and sometimes it's easy to celebrate when you are under deadlines.

Booklover, happy new year! I am happy to be getting back to my emotional romances. I am not quite certain just how dark HQN is going to let me go, but I will try my best to take them where I think they need to go. Sometimes, just a straight romance is what readers would like to sink their teeth into!
